Jakarta/Bandar Seri Begawan, 28 May 2024: ERIA and Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to cooperate in digital innovation and sustainable economy through the ERIA Digital Innovation and Sustainable Economy Centre (E-DISC).
This MoU signing ceremony was conducted virtually, marking a milestone partnership between both institutions. Dr Hazri bin Haji Kifle, Vice Chancellor of UBD, stated that the MoU will enhance the university's research capabilities and foster a dynamic environment for digital innovation growth. Koji Hachiyama, ERIA’s Chief Operating Officer, emphasised that the cooperation between ERIA and UBD is a significant step towards establishing the ASEAN Technology University Network. He added that the partnership will facilitate knowledge exchange and joint initiatives to support the growth of digital innovation and sustainable economic development in the region.
The ceremony commenced with introductory remarks, followed by the main agenda: the signing of the MoU. Hachiyama signed the document on behalf of ERIA, and Dr Hazri bin Haji Kifle represented UBD.
The event concluded with closing remarks from representatives of both ERIA and UBD. Daisuke Nakayama, Chief Manager of E-DISC, highlighted that UBD's involvement will provide opportunities for collaboration with other universities across Southeast Asia, contributing to ASEAN's transformation into a leading digital economy region. In his closing remarks, Dr Hazri expressed his excitement for this cooperation, viewing it as a journey of mutual learning and growth that will lead to future success and remarkable achievements.
