Meeting with Mr. Yukio Edano, Minister of METI, Japan Mr. Tadahiro Matsushita, Senior Vice Minister of METI Japan

Dr. Surin Pitsuwan, Secretary General of ASEAN, Mr. Hidetoshi Nishimura, Executive Director of ERIA, and Mr. Takio Yamada, Japanese Ambassador to ASEAN, met with Mr. Yukio Edano, Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, Japan on 14 September 2011.

Dr. Surin briefed on the role of ERIA in ASEAN and East Asia. Mr. Edano said that ERIA is very important institute in East Asia and expressed his will to further support to ERIA.

They also discussed several issues in Asia including cooperation in the energy sector, economic integration, and investment to ASEAN by Japanese SMEs.

 

On the same day, Mr. Nishimura met with Mr. Matsushita, Senior Vice Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry. Mr. Nishimura explained on the ERIA's recent activities especially about the progress of CADP and MPAC and reported about 43rd ASEAN Economic Ministers Meeting that he attended on August 2011.
In addition, he briefed on the future activities including Energy Ministers Meeting in September, EAS and Harvard symposium in November. Mr. Matsushita expressed his will to continuously support to ERIA.
