Executive Director of ERIA Meets Ministers of Myanmar

Mr. Hidetoshi Nishimura, Executive Director of ERIA, met with Mr.Tin Naing Thein, Minister of National Planning and Economic Development of Myanmar (NPED) and Dr. Kan Zaw,Deputy Minister of NPED, Myanmar on 28 September 2011.

Minister Tin appreciated ERIA's constructive advice to Myanmar in Comprehensive Asia Development Plan (CADP) and said that India Mekong Economic Corridor (MIEC) will greatly contribute to the development of the region as well as the development of Myanmar. In addition, Minister briefed on the works in NPED and expressed his appreciation for support from Japanese government in various aspects.

On the same day, Mr. Nishimura also met with Mr. Than Htay, Minister of Energy of Myanmar . Both parties shared the recognition that good development plan promoted by Myanmar government should be shown to the region for the implementation of MIEC. Mr. Than Htay also appreciated ERIA's contributions including the energy sector and expressed his will to maintain strong cooperation with ERIA.
