ERIA Renews Memorandum of Understanding with AIPA at 15th AIPA Caucus Meeting in Brunei

Bandar Seri Begawan, 11 June 2024: ERIA has renewed its Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with AIPA (ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly) during the 15th AIPA Caucus Meeting in Brunei Darussalam.

ERIA President Tetsuya Watanabe signed the renewal of the MoU originally signed in 2016. This marks the third reaffirmation of the agreement, underscoring its importance in fostering strong ties between both parties.

‘The Parliament has a strong role in developing good legislation that will surely enhance both the economic and environmental well-being of the country and the region’ said President Watanabe, who signed the agreement together with AIPA Secretary General H.E. Ar. Siti Rozaimeriyanty Dato Haji Abdul Rahman, on the sidelines of the 15th AIPA Caucus Meeting held in Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei Darussalam.

Prior to the signing ceremony, Dr Aladdin D Rillo, ERIA Managing Director for Policy Design and Operation, delivered a presentation to ASEAN parliament members during the second session of AIPA Caucus Meeting. His focus was on strengthening ASEAN’s cyber resilience through parliamentary cooperation. ‘There are challenges that need to be solved through collaboration among stakeholders’ Dr Rillo stated. He further highlighted that ERIA is ready to provide its knowledge support to identify key challenges in cybersecurity and digital transformation through E-DISC.
