ERIA Receives Courtesy Visit from Republic of Korea's Trade Minister

Jakarta, 3 July 2024: ERIA’s new Chief Operating Officer, Toru Furuichi, warmly welcomed the Minister for Trade of the Republic of Korea, H.E. Cheong Inkyo, and his team during their visit to ERIA’s office. During the meeting, Furuichi expressed his gratitude for the support of the Republic of Korea for ERIA’s activities. ERIA’s Managing Director for Policy Design and Operations, Dr Aladdin D. Rillo, provided a short briefing on ERIA’s recent activities, which include the Asia Zero Emission (AZE) Centre, ERIA Digital Innovation and Sustainable Economy Centre (E-DISC), and ERIA School of Government.

The Republic of Korea and ERIA discussed reciprocal and future-oriented cooperation to enhance policy-making capabilities in ASEAN and to strengthen productive relations with countries in the region, including the Republic of Korea. ERIA welcomed the possibility of future cooperation, emphasising that it would focus on targeted topics and priorities such as digitalisation and sustainability, which can provide additional value to the existing platforms for economic integration in the region.
