Jakarta, 21 March 2025: ERIA President Tetsuya Watanabe welcomed Dr Mari Elka Pangestu, Special Advisor to the President of Indonesia for International Trade and Multilateral Cooperation and Vice Chair of Indonesia’s National Economic Council, for a courtesy visit at the ERIA office in Jakarta. 

During the meeting, Dr Pangestu provided insights into Indonesia’s current economic agenda, emphasising the critical role of research and collaboration in shaping effective policies. She highlighted how ERIA’s regional expertise could support both national and ASEAN-wide economic objectives. 

President Watanabe expressed his deep appreciation for Dr Pangestu’s leadership and dedication to advancing Indonesia’s economic priorities. He reaffirmed ERIA’s commitment to strengthening collaboration with Indonesia to promote sustainable and inclusive economic growth. 

The discussion also explored potential cooperation in key areas such as trade and investment, energy transition, and supply chain resilience. President Watanabe welcomed these initiatives and reiterated ERIA’s readiness to work closely with Indonesia’s National Economic Council to support national and regional policy development.
