Jakarta, 2 March 2025: ERIA President Tetsuya Watanabe welcomed Prof. Yutaka Matsuo, a leading artificial intelligence (AI) researcher from the University of Tokyo, during his visit to ERIA.

Prof. Matsuo’s laboratory is amongst the most successful in securing private-sector funding, fostering AI-related startups, and providing online AI education in Japan. Looking ahead, he aims to leverage this expertise to support laboratory spinoffs in ASEAN countries. He also expressed interest in strengthening collaboration with ERIA to advance these initiatives.
