Jakarta, 28 April 2025: ERIA President Tetsuya Watanabe welcomed His Excellency Enkhtaivan Dashnyam, Ambassador of Mongolia to ASEAN, during a courtesy visit to ERIA’s headquarters in Jakarta.
Ambassador Enkhtaivan expressed his appreciation for ERIA’s valuable contributions to the Asia–Europe Meeting (ASEM) in 2016, particularly through the development of the Asia–Europe Connectivity Vision 2025: Challenges and Opportunities, a key policy document that has helped shape dialogue between the two regions. Building on this collaboration, the Ambassador conveyed Mongolia’s strong interest in renewing and deepening ties with ERIA through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia and ERIA on issues of mutual interest.
President Watanabe warmly welcomed the initiative, expressing his gratitude to the Government of Mongolia for recognising ERIA as a strategic partner in regional development. He voiced strong support for formalising the partnership and highlighted several of ERIA’s recent initiatives – including the Asia Zero Emission Center (AZEC), the ERIA School of Government, and the ERIA Digital Innovation and Sustainable Economy Centre (E-DISC) – as promising platforms for concrete and targeted collaboration.
Both sides discussed potential avenues for enhanced cooperation, including joint research and capacity-building activities, and expressed their enthusiasm for taking the next steps towards institutionalising the partnership.
