Jakarta, 13 January 2025: ERIA President Tetsuya Watanabe paid a courtesy visit to H.E. Airlangga Hartarto, Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs (CMEA) of the Republic of Indonesia, at his office in Jakarta. This meeting marked President Watanabe’s first official engagement with the Red and White Cabinet under President Prabowo Subianto.

During the meeting, President Watanabe extended his congratulations to Minister Airlangga on his reappointment as Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs. He reaffirmed ERIA’s commitment to supporting the CMEA and President Prabowo’s administration by providing expert knowledge and policy insights.

Minister Airlangga warmly welcomed President Watanabe, and the two leaders engaged in a fruitful discussion on the current economic landscape. They explored potential areas of collaboration under the Asia Zero Emission Community (AZEC) framework, with a particular focus on energy and decarbonisation efforts. Topics also included Indonesia’s ongoing accession processes to the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) and the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP), alongside discussions on emerging fields such as artificial intelligence (AI) and the digital economy.

The meeting further reviewed the progress of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between ERIA and CMEA, signed in July 2024, and discussed its current implementation.
