ERIA President Pays Courtesy Calls to Ministers and Stakeholders in Malaysia

Putrajaya/Kuala Lumpur, 8-13 May 2024: ERIA’s President Tetsuya Watanabe, along with a delegation comprising Dr Intan M. Ramli, Senior Policy Fellow, and Tomy Waskitho, Executive Secretary to the President and Research Associate, paid courtesy calls to ministers and stakeholders in Putrajaya and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, during their official visit to the country from 8–13 May 2024. The ERIA delegation was also accompanied by ERIA’s RIN Member from Malaysia, Prof Sufian Jusoh from IKMAS UKM.
The delegation, led by President Watanabe, met with YB Senator Tengku Datuk Seri Setia Zafrul Abdul Aziz, Minister of International Trade and Industry (MITI); H.E. Dato’ Seri Awang Adek Hussin, Chairman of the Securities Commission Malaysia; H.E. Tan Sri Mohamed Nazir Razak, Chairman of the Malaysian ASEAN Business Advisory Council (BAC); and the Honourable Datuk TS. Mustapha Sakmud, Deputy Minister of Higher Education of Malaysia.
The meetings were fruitful, covering a wide range of issues including supply chain resilience, energy transition, sustainability, talent development and mobility, and ERIA’s support for Malaysia's Chairmanship in 2025.
