ERIA President Pays Courtesy Call to IEA Executive Director

Paris, 15 February 2024: ERIA’s President, Tetsuya Watanabe, had a bilateral meeting with the Executive Director of the International Energy Agency (IEA), Dr Fatih Birol, at the IEA Headquarters in Paris, France on Thursday.

President Watanabe was briefed on the recently concluded IEA 2024 Ministerial meeting held on 13 and 14 February 2024 and commended the successful results, including IEA's strong outreach to the Asian region. The meeting also explored potential avenues for further cooperation between the two institutions. Both institutions agreed on the importance of Southeast Asia and remain committed to working together to contribute to energy transitions within the region.
