ERIA President Participates in ASEAN-Japan Young and Future Generation Business Leaders’ Summit in Kyoto

Kyoto, 18–19 December 2024: ERIA President Tetsuya Watanabe joined the ASEAN–Japan Young and Future Generation Business Leaders’ Summit in Kyoto, bringing together business leaders from ASEAN and Japan to enhance mutual understanding, share perspectives on economic and social challenges, and explore collaborative solutions.
President Watanabe addressed participants at the welcoming dinner, which combined attendees from both the ASEAN–Japan Young Business Leaders’ Summit and the ASEAN-Japan Future Generation Leaders’ Summit. In his remarks, he described the ASEAN–Japan relationship as a ‘remarkable combination of cultural richness, technological advancement, and youthful energy.’ He underscored that while the partnership offers abundant opportunities, their full potential can only be achieved through cross-generational and cross-border collaboration.
The ERIA President also highlighted innovation as a driving force for economic growth and societal progress. He encouraged the young and emerging business leaders to actively engage in initiatives that not only promote economic success but also strengthen ASEAN–Japan relations and contribute to societal well-being.
The summit served as a dynamic platform for fostering collaboration and preparing the next generation of leaders to shape the future of ASEAN–Japan partnerships.
