Bandar Seri Begawan, 22 April 2025: As part of his official engagements in Brunei Darussalam, ERIA President Tetsuya Watanabe met with Dato Seri Paduka Mohamad Azmi bin Haji Mohd Hanifah, Deputy Minister of Energy at the Prime Minister’s Office.

President Watanabe conveyed his appreciation for Brunei Darussalam’s continued support of ERIA’s Asia Zero Emission Center, which was launched during the Second Asia Zero Emission Community (AZEC) Ministerial Meeting in Jakarta – an event attended by the Deputy Minister.

Their discussion included an overview of the recent ASEAN Centre for Climate Change (ACCC) workshop, as well as opportunities for collaboration between the Asia Zero Emission Center and the ACCC to advance regional decarbonisation efforts and combat climate change.

The two leaders also exchanged views on the evolving energy landscape in ASEAN, emphasising the importance of deeper cooperation to tackle shared challenges and support the region’s transition to a more sustainable and secure energy future.
