Kuala Lumpur, 22 November 2024: During his official visit to Kuala Lumpur, ERIA President Tetsuya Watanabe met with the Malaysian Speaker of Parliament, Tan Sri Dato' Johari Abdul, at the Parliament Building.

President Watanabe expressed his gratitude to Tan Sri Dato' Johari for his visit to the ERIA office earlier this year and congratulated him on being appointed the 46th President of the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA). The two leaders also discussed potential collaborative programmes for AIPA in the coming year.

The discussions focused on the importance of energy transition, food security, and innovation as crucial drivers for sustaining ASEAN's economic growth. ERIA, in collaboration with Malaysia's RIN member, IKMAS, will work closely with the Malaysian Parliament Secretariat on programmes related to these three key areas.
