ERIA President Joins WEF Roundtable on the Role of Higher Education in Supporting the ASEAN Economic Community

Cologny, 9 September 2024: The President of ERIA and delegation participated in the World Economic Forum (WEF) roundtable on ‘The Role of Higher Education in Supporting the ASEAN Economic Community,’ which took place in Cologny, Switzerland.

The event brought together prominent leaders, including Malaysia's Minister of Higher Education, H.E. Zambry Bin Abd Kadir, ASEAN Ambassadors and Representatives in Geneva, Vice-Chancellors from Malaysian universities, and experts from the World Trade Institute (WTI), Institut Kajian Malaysia dan Antarbangsa (IKMAS), WEF, and ERIA. Held under the Chatham House Rule, the discussions covered a broad range of issues related to higher education in ASEAN and its role in fostering the region's sustainable economic growth, contributing to the long-term vision for ASEAN in 2045.

Prior to the roundtable, ERIA’s President, Tetsuya Watanabe, met with WEF's Head of Regional Agenda for Asia-Pacific, Joo-Ok Lee, at the WEF headquarters to explore potential avenues for collaboration.
