Desaru, 27 February 2025: ERIA President Tetsuya Watanabe made an official visit to Desaru, Johor, Malaysia, for the 31st ASEAN Economic Ministers’ (AEM) Retreat.

During his visit, he held a bilateral meeting with Datuk Seri Utama Tengku Zafrul Aziz, the current AEM Chair and Malaysia’s Minister of Investment, Trade, and Industry. He also met with the Secretary-General of ASEAN, Dr Kao Kim Hourn, and Indonesia’s Vice-Minister of Trade, H.E. Dyah Roro Esti.

President Watanabe is scheduled to address ASEAN Economic Ministers on 28 February 2025, presenting ERIA’s research on semiconductors and ASEAN–Gulf Co-operation Council economic co-operation at the 31st AEM Retreat.
