ERIA President Addresses Ministerial Panel on Clean Cooking Energy Access at India Energy Week 2025

New Delhi, 12 February 2025: ERIA President Tetsuya Watanabe participated in the Ministerial Panel on Providing Global Vision for Universal Clean Cooking Energy Access at India Energy Week 2025, held in New Delhi on 12 February.
Speaking alongside senior government officials and key stakeholders, President Watanabe highlighted the pressing need for developing countries to share best practices in expanding clean cooking energy access, particularly for rural households. He emphasised that while government-led initiatives are essential, they are insufficient without active engagement from local communities.
‘Government initiatives alone are not enough. Achieving universal clean cooking access requires the participation of local communities to ensure solutions are practical, sustainable, and scalable,’ he stated.
The panel discussion underscored the importance of collaborative efforts amongst governments, private sector, and international organisations to accelerate clean energy transitions. President Watanabe concluded his remarks by reaffirming ERIA’s commitment to fostering regional cooperation, stating, ‘We have a lot to collaborate on.’
India Energy Week 2025, held from 11–14 February at the Yashobhoomi – India International Convention & Expo Centre in New Delhi, operates under the patronage of the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, India. The event brings together over 70,000 energy professionals, policymakers, and experts to discuss critical topics such as sustainable energy transitions, technological advancements, and collaborative strategies for a secure energy future.
