ERIA Launches Asia Zero Emission Center to Drive Regional Energy Transition

Jakarta, 21 August 2024: ERIA proudly announced the launch of the Asia Zero Emission Center in Jakarta on 21 August 2024, with a ceremony attended by key regional figures.
ERIA President Tetsuya Watanabe expressed his gratitude to all attendees, describing the launch as a pivotal moment for ERIA. He explained that the Center will serve as a platform to share information, conduct studies, and assist AZEC partner countries in developing visions, roadmaps, and policies towards decarbonization to promote energy transitions.
‘AZEC is well-positioned to offer a new model of regional cooperation and solutions that accelerate the energy transition while maintaining the momentum of rapid economic growth,’ he added.
President Watanabe also extended his deepest gratitude to all the ministers, ambassadors, business leaders, and stakeholders from across the region for their continued support and guidance. Notable attendees included Airlangga Hartarto, Indonesia’s Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs; Rosan Perkasa Roeslani, Indonesia’s Minister of Investment; Ken Saito, Japan’s Minister of Economy, Trade, and Industry; and Satvinder Singh, Deputy Secretary-General of ASEAN for the ASEAN Economic Community, who conveyed congratulations to President Watanabe.
The ceremony, which concluded with a tree-planting by ministers and representatives of AZEC partner countries, took place following the 2nd AZEC Ministerial Meeting.
