Bangkok, 30 – 31 May 2024: ERIA held the 1st working group meeting on Investment/Financing Scenarios for All Fuels and Technologies under Carbon Neutrality in Bangkok, Thailand. The meeting brought together various professors, researchers, and experts on energy economics, financing, and investments to share their initial findings and hypotheses on the ongoing research project.

Prof Fukunari Kimura, President of IDE–JETRO as well as Senior Research Fellow and former Chief Economist of ERIA, delivered the opening remarks online, highlighting the significance of the study in the energy transition towards carbon neutrality, particularly for ASEAN. Prof Kimura expressed his hopes for a successful and productive discussion during the working group meeting, aiming to generate key policy messages for policymakers in ASEAN.

Dr Han Phoumin, Senior Energy Economist of ERIA and the project team leader, also delivered opening remarks underscoring the importance of the study's results in shaping the energy transition journey in ASEAN. He echoed Prof Kimura's message, emphasising that the study outcomes will be shared in various important forums within the region.

Associate Professor Farhad Taghizadeh-Hesary from Tokai University, serving as the co-project leader, delivered his opening remarks, highlighting the study's significance and its implications for the energy transition journey in ASEAN. He also moderated the entire meeting sessions, ensuring a smooth flow and productive discussions amongst the participants.
