‘Living Chic with Plastic’ podcast series welcomes young people involved in marine plastic litter research, prevention programs, clean-up activities, and other advocacies. We listen to their first-hand experiences, the different challenges they may be facing, and draw important insights toward possible solutions for this issue.
This episode features teenage ecology activist Ralyn ‘Lilly’ Satidtanasarn, 16, also known as the Greta Thunberg of Thailand. Since she was 8 years old, Lilly has been engaging with government officials, corporate executives, and civic leaders, discussing the pollution caused by single-use plastic. She paddles through Bangkok canals, picking up rubbish, and successfully persuaded a supermarket to stop offering plastic bags for one day every week.
Here, she discusses her activism, aspirations, and the challenges in the campaign against single-use plastics. Amid the ongoing plastic crisis, Lilly urges everyone to stop merely talking about change but instead, to push forward and take that step towards change.
