Mahirah Mahusin holds a postgraduate degree from Lancaster University, with a focus on critical discourse analysis.
Mahirah is the Manager for Digital Innovation and Sustainable Economy, supporting the operations of the ERIA Digital Innovation and Sustainable Economy Centre. Mahirah brings with her a decade of policy experience on trade, regional cooperation, and foreign affairs. Prior to joining ERIA, she was a Special Officer to the Secretary-General of ASEAN (2018-2022) serving in a chief-of-staff role. From 2013-2023, She served as a Second Secretary and later promoted to Assistant Director at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Brunei Darussalam. She was a core member of the negotiating teams for the Trans-Pacific Partnership (later on the CPTPP), and the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership, and oversaw several Brunei Darussalam’s regional engagement under the ASEAN Economic Community, including the ASEAN High-Level Task Force on ASEAN Economic Integration. In 2016, she led Brunei Darussalam’s engagement at the 71st UNGA Second Committee (Economic and Financial).
