Prof Mari Pangestu Discusses How ERIA can Support Indonesia’s G20 Presidency and ASEAN Chairmanship in 2023

Jakarta, 27 January 2020: Prof Mari Pangestu lead an informal discussion with senior staff at ERIA regarding the upcoming Indonesian Presidency of G20 and Chairmanship of ASEAN which are both taking place in 2023. President Hidetoshi Nishimura welcomed her to ERIA and congratulated her once again about her appointment as Managing Director of Development Policy and Partnership at the World Bank. President Hidetoshi Nishimura thanked Prof Pangestu for her support to ERIA as Governing Board Member and Special Envoy to the President. Prof Mari Pangestu and President Nishimura also discussed potential future collaborations between the World Bank and ERIA.
Following President Nishimura’s welcome, Prof Mari Pangestu shared her thoughts and ideas on how ERIA can contribute to Indonesia’s G20 Presidency and ASEAN Chairmanship. ERIA’s support of these two important milestones is one of the pillars of the newly established Strategy and Partnership programme, funded by Australia. Prof Mari Pangestu was accompanied by Dr Yose Rizal Damuri, Head of the Department of Economics at CSIS. Dr Rizal Damuri shared ideas on possible collaboration on T20 and specific thematic priorities.
ERIA COO Koji Hachiyama, Dr Giulia Ajmone, Director for the Strategy and Partnership Programme, Dr Intan Ramli, Policy Design Unit, and Ms Lydia Ruddy, Director of Communications, participated in the meeting. ERIA will continue discussing with CSIS and all relevant stakeholders to start defining possible future contribution and support.
