Under the supervision of the Centre’s Managing Director and the Chief Economist, and under the thought leadership of the President and/or other senior management officials and ERIA’s Governing Board, the Director for Digital Innovation and Sustainable Economy is expected to play a leading role in managing and directing the activities of E-DISC. This includes developing the research agenda and projects, and providing strategic advice on all aspects of ERIA’s digital and sustainable development knowledge priorities in the region.

Responsibilities:

  1. Lead a technical team in conducting policy-oriented research and analysis related to the digital economy (e.g. digital trade, data governance, cross-border data flows, cybersecurity), digital technologies and innovation (e.g. artificial intelligence and other emerging technologies), start-ups, entrepreneurship, and the sustainable and circular economy.

  2. Develop, manage, and implement activities, projects, and organisational strategies to facilitate digital transformation and sustainable development. This includes producing flagship publications, leading outreach initiatives, building internal team capacity, and collaborating with external partners to shape ERIA’s contribution to the region’s digital and sustainable economy.

  3. Formulate policy recommendations and provide strategic policy advice on issues related to the digital economy and sustainability at regional, national, and local levels.

  4. Ensure E-DISC has access to leading technical expertise in the digital economy by working closely with ERIA’s research and policy departments and representing ERIA at international conferences and meetings as required.

  5. Engage with key stakeholders—governments, industries, academia, and international and non-governmental organisations—on digital transformation and sustainable economy issues through knowledge management, policy guidance, technical assistance, and capacity-building initiatives.

  6. Perform other duties as assigned by the President and/or other senior management officials.

Qualifications:

  1. Advanced degree in economics, public policy, engineering, technology, computer science, or other relevant fields.

  2. Strong knowledge of the digital economy, technology, and sustainable development. Proven ability to conceptualise digital solutions and experience in applying technologies to improve economic and policy outcomes.

  3. Demonstrated experience in conducting research and technical projects on digital and sustainable economic policy, particularly within think tanks, research institutes, government bodies, or industry.

  4. Excellent research and writing skills, with a proven record of producing high-quality publications and managing data sources. Experience in ASEAN and East Asian countries is strongly preferred.

  5. Extensive leadership and technical expertise in developing functional and organisational strategies, including relevant management experience, in response to developments in global and regional economies.

  6. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work harmoniously as part of a multicultural team.

Under the broad direction of the Governing Board, the thought leadership of the President, the guidance of the Chief Economist and other senior management officials, and reporting to the Director of Energy Policy / Head of the Asia Zero Emission Centre, the (Senior) Energy Economist for Hydrogen and Ammonia is expected to play a leading role in delivering high-quality management of research projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Undertake high-quality, policy-oriented analysis, prepare policy recommendations, and contribute to the formulation of guidelines related to hydrogen and ammonia utilisation in the energy and industrial sectors in ASEAN and East Asia.

  • Manage policy-oriented research projects in the above areas and other related topics.

  • Demonstrate strong communication and presentation skills, confidently engaging with diverse audiences and representing ERIA at international conferences, meetings, and symposiums as required.

  • Provide strategic advice at regional, national, and local levels, and remain informed about emerging trends, technologies, and best practices in the field.

  • Engage with key stakeholders (governments, industries, academia, and other international and non-governmental organisations) through knowledge management, policy guidance, technical assistance, and capacity building.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the President and/or other senior management officials.

Qualifications:

  • An advanced degree, preferably a PhD, in engineering, energy policy/economics, economics, development, public policy, or a related field.

  • Strong analytical and research skills with experience in energy and economic policy, particularly in hydrogen and ammonia utilisation in the energy and industrial sectors within ASEAN and East Asia.

  • Excellent writing skills, with a proven track record of delivering high-quality publications.

  • Extensive experience in handling data sources.

  • Ability to effectively present key results to public audiences.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work harmoniously in a multicultural team. Experience in communicating with government officials in Asian countries and familiarity with regional working cultures are preferred.

Language:

  • Excellent written and verbal proficiency in English.

  • Proficiency in East Asian languages would be an asset.

Under the instructions and supervision of the Executive Office members in the Healthcare Unit, the successful candidate will perform a wide range of research activities in the healthcare and social welfare disciplines. The main duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Research Activities

  • Assisting Executive Office members at any stage of research, including conducting literature reviews, interviews, developing concept notes and research proposals, and writing manuscripts.

  • Supporting data collection, cleaning, analysis, and management.

  • Monitoring project progress and resolving any issues that arise.

  • Monitoring research budgets.

  • Drafting and editing policy briefs and other reports, such as event articles for the ERIA website, and editing reports submitted by each counterpart.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

Essential:

  • A Master’s degree (preferably in public health, global health, health sciences, social sciences, health economics, or related fields).

  • Excellent communication skills in English (written and spoken) and Bahasa Indonesia, including highly developed document-drafting skills.

  • Strong academic record.

  • A minimum of 7 years of professional and research experience in relevant sectors.

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of and research experience in Asia, preferably resulting in academic publications.

  • Experience working with multisectoral stakeholders.

  • Experience working with multidisciplinary teams in international settings.

Under the direct supervision of senior staff, the successful candidate will perform a wide range of research-related tasks, particularly—but not limited to—the following:

  • Managing various financial documents, such as gathering cost estimates, drafting contracts, submitting invoices, making payments, preparing and processing reimbursement requests, etc.
