ERIA Receives Special Visitor from Japan

Jakarta, 2 May 2023: Mr Koichi Hagiuda, Chairperson of the Policy Research Council of Japan’s Liberal Democratic Party and the Former Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) and Mr Ryosei Akazawa, Acting Chairperson of the Policy and Research Council visited  the Economic Research Institute for Asean and East Asia (ERIA) office. During the visit, Mr Hagiuda met with ERIA President, Prof Hidetoshi Nishimura, toured the institute's offices, and delivered a speech.

In his speech, Hagiuda praised ERIA's efforts in promoting economic growth and integration in the ASEAN and East Asia region. He also highlighted ERIA’s achievements under Prof Nishimura’s leadership over the past 15 years since ERIA was inaugurated. Hagiuda also said that 'Japan is the president of G7 this year, but I said the ASEAN and Japan 50 years anniversary of friendship and cooperation is much important for us within LDP.'

Prof Nishimura expressed his gratitude to Minister Hagiuda for his visit and for Japan's continued support to ERIA. 'Japan is an important partner for ERIA, and we appreciate their unwavering commitment to promoting economic growth and development in the ASEAN and East Asia region,' said Nishimura.
